Digital Archive Services

I am taking my scanning and archiving services on the road across the USA.

Previously, I operated out of my Glass Lakes Photography gallery, and in 2018 I opened a second business, Petoskey Print Studio, a full-service printing, framing, and archiving studio. By 2019, my team and I had begun focusing on conservation framing and the digital archiving of specialty items. Over the years I’ve managed projects both small and large, always applying my expertise in handling and preserving delicate materials.

My business model has always centered on providing the highest level of skill and service in preserving your family’s, community’s, or organization’s history. Now that my service is mobile, there is no need to package or ship your fragile items. I will be staying locally while I work, ensuring your items remain safe in a climate-controlled environment. After scanning, they are promptly returned to you and also backed up on both a primary and a remote secondary server for redundancy. I personally review all scans for quality and make basic corrections. If desired, I can advise you on storing your physical items or even assist in packaging. Prints can be produced and delivered directly to you or to your local frame shop.

You’ll have multiple delivery options for your digitized collection. Most clients prefer either a secure internet transfer or a portable hard drive. Your files will remain stored on our server for a period of time, and long-term secure storage is always available.

Mobile Archiving Services

We understand that trust and convenience are essential when it comes to preserving your memories. That’s why Joe Clark Photographer, LLC offers fully mobile scanning and archiving services, operated from our professional mobile studio.

Instead of sending your cherished photos, slides, and negatives through the mail, we bring our equipment directly to your home area. Our process is simple:

  1. Work is scheduled in advance – we coordinate with clients in each area to build a queue of projects.

  2. We travel to you – our RV trailer is fully outfitted as a mobile studio, allowing us to complete scanning on-site in your community.

  3. Safe return of originals – your items never leave our care. Everything is scanned locally, reviewed for quality, and delivered securely in digital form.

  4. Manual examination of your files – we examine your scanned items and make basic adjustments to color, exposure, and crop.

  5. Secure delivery – your files are securely delivered via digital means once they have been fully processed.

This approach ensures the highest level of security for your originals, while also making the process convenient and cost-effective. By concentrating projects regionally, we minimize travel costs and maximize the efficiency of our services.

Wherever we travel, our goal remains the same: to treat your photographs and documents with the care of fine art and to provide you with beautifully organized, professional digital archives.

Maintain your own organization methods.

We deliver your scans in a way that mirrors how you provided them. For example, a slide carousel labeled ‘Summer 1978’ becomes a folder with the same name and the images in their original order. Albums, envelopes, and other collections are handled the same way.

  • Albums → Organized folder structure

  • Slides & Negatives → Named by original labels and maintained in original order

  • Envelopes → Grouped and preserved in order and clearly labeled
